How do I get to know this Jesus you are talking about?
Getting to know Jesus Christ is just like getting to know a close friend. The only way you know a friend is by spending time with them, by learning about them, and by talking with them. The same is true with God. In order to know Jesus and have a relationship with Him, one must spend time with Him (ie. by going to church and being around other Christians), learn about Him (by reading His Book of Self-Disclosure, the Bible), and by talking with Him (praying). We believe that it is through these activities that a person can come to know who Jesus is. But, all of these activities will go nowhere until the barrier between you and God has been overcome. That barrier is sin. The Bible tells us that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Rom.3:23). This means that none of us are perfect and that we all fall short of God’s perfect standard. Therefore, the only way for us to have peace with God and to enjoy restored fellowship with our Creator is by confessing our shortcomings (sins) and then accepting Jesus Christ as the solution to our ‘sin’ problem (Rom.10:9). This is the only way to have the barrier of sin removed. Jesus Christ died so that we might have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10). His death made our forgiveness possible. It is His desire to know you and to be in relationship with you. So what are you waiting for? You can have peace with God right now. Simply call on Him, confess your sins, accept His love and forgiveness, and you will be saved (Rom.10:13).
